Registration

  • You must use MyUNT to register for classes each semester/term. You will need your EUID and password to log on. Instructional guides for using MyUNT are available on the login page under the MyHelp for students link.
  • If you are a new student or have been placed on alert, probation, or suspension, you will likely need to enter a four digit advising clearance code in order to register or make changes to your schedule. New students will receive their codes at orientation. Alert, probation, and suspension students must set up an appointment with their advisor to get their codes. Advisors will not give out codes over the phone or via email.
  • When registering for classes:
  • Check the Registration Calendar for open registration periods.
  • Check for any blocks on your account such as probation, library fines, current address, and missing transcripts through the My To Do List area of MyUNT.
  • Check course prerequisites. Many courses have prerequisites, especially math, lab science, computer science, and engineering classes. Make sure that you have completed the prerequisite(s) for each class because the system will not always block you from registering for a course for which you do not have the prerequisite(s). Prerequisites for a course can be found in the course descriptions section of the catalog.
  • Check course corequisites. Many courses have corequisites, especially math, lab science, and engineering courses. Corequisites for a course can be found in the course descriptions section of the catalog.
  • Check class and/or section restrictions. Certain classes or sections may be restricted to certain student populations such as majors only, non-majors only, TAMS, Honors College students, and Study Abroad.
  • Use the four year plans for your major as a guide, but remember that your schedule will likely differ depending on your starting point in math, as well as your chosen core and elective courses.
  • Remember to save a few of your core courses for your junior and senior years when you will be taking more difficult upper division courses in your major.
  • Remember that advanced courses may not be offered every semester. If you put off all of them until your senior year, you may be faced with two senior years as a result. Getting a degree audit by the end of your sophomore year and meeting with an advisor to plan your final semesters is a good way to avoid this problem.
  • If you are taking UNT core classes, check the list of approved courses satisfying core requirements. The list is published every semester in the first few sections of the Schedule of Classes.
  • In order to meet the 42-45 advanced hour requirement for your degree, try to select 3000 or 4000-level core courses if possible. You do not have to wait until your junior or senior year to register for one of these courses as long as you meet the prerequisites, if any.
  • Note the location of your class meetings to make sure you have enough time to get between buildings and campuses. Most of your computer science and engineering courses will meet at the Research Park campus, while most of your core classes, math classes, and lab sciences will be taught on the main UNT campus. Try to have at least 40 minutes for traveling between campuses.
  • Check your schedule after you have registered to make sure all information is correct.
  • Payment Tips:
  • Check the Registration Calendar for payment deadlines.
  • Check that financial aid, scholarships, grants, or personal payments have been credited to your account by the payment deadline posted on the Registration Calendar.
  • Contact the Student Accounting Office on the first floor of the Eagle Student Service Center or Financial Aid and Scholarships Office on the third floor of the Eagle Student Services Center concerning any payment questions.
  • Remember that failure to pay on time results in cancellation of your schedule!
